According to a report by the United Press International on April 9, paleontologists discovered a group of small dinosaur footprints in South Korea and found a well-preserved sole skin texture in each footprint.

At the press conference, Martin Lockley, a professor of geology at the University of Colorado in the United States, said: "This is the first time people have found the entire skin texture of a foot in a group of dinosaur footprints," he said. Footprints and skin textures are left by a small dinosaur named "Minisauripus", one of the smallest dinosaurs in the world. Their footprints are very small and rare, so they were originally raised in South Korea. The state's excavation process was almost destroyed, but fortunately, researchers found it in time.


Lockley pointed out: "This set of footprints is left on a very thin layer of fine mud. This layer of mud is like a new layer of paint with a thickness of only one millimeter." The researchers analyzed the mud layer and found that: There should be rain before the formation of the footprints. After the rain, the small dinosaur passes through it, and the footprints and skin texture left by it are quickly covered by another layer of mud, so this group was 120 million years ago. The footprints have been preserved to this day.


The researchers said that the skin of the small dinosaur found this time is like sandpaper with moderate grinding. They also found tiny scales of the soles of their feet, similar to the larger carnivorous dinosaur footprints.


The latest results of the study were published this week in the journal Science Report, which found that a large number of small dinosaurs lived in Korea during the Cretaceous period.
