Are There Any Options for Inflatable Dinosaur Costumes?

Feb. 04, 2023

Inflatable dinosaur costumes have been around for a while. Originally just offered as T-Rex, they have expanded to include other species. Let's take a look at what species are available and answer other questions about inflatable dinosaur costumes below.

While the original inflatable costume was only a Tyrannosaurus rex, it has now been expanded to include Triceratops, Stegosaurus, and proboscis such as apatosaurus and diplodocus. this means that in recent years there have been more options for inflatable dinosaur costumes.

Are there any options for inflatable dinosaur costumes?

Although unsurprisingly, the first and most popular inflatable dinosaur costume is the Tyrannosaurus rex. Its costume worked much better than the Tyrannosaurus Rex costume, which was basically a large bull.

However, since the first Tyrannosaurus Rex inflatable costume, there have been other dinosaur costumes. A quick search on Amazon shows that the line has expanded to include Triceratops, Stegosaurus, and one that looks like Godzilla but is actually Allosaurus, we think. They also offer large sauropods, such as Apatosaurus.

Our choice of inflatable dinosaur costumes.

We had to go with the inflatable T-Rex. it's a classic, a huge dinosaur in terms of size and popularity, and it has the added benefit of being able to make RAWR noises while chasing people, and we chose these for the following reasons.

Reasons for buying the Trex inflatable dinosaur suit

It is a theropod, meaning it walks on two legs.

It's more fun to be a carnivore

It has sound!

Being a T-rex is scarier, so it's better for Halloween

It can make very funny movies if you start chasing people or jumping out.

It's easier to sit down with than a four-legged inflatable dinosaur costume.

Other dinosaur costume options.

We added these just in case there might be more, but these are the ones we found. You can click on the name to take a look on Amazon, and of course if you're in another country, they're usually available in the online store there too!

Stegosaurus: They do have this one that walks on two legs, so it actually looks a bit like Godzilla rather than Stegosaurus. It's still a little different if you want to stand out. Just hope you can explain that you're not Godzilla.

Triceratops. While it looks cool, it's the most expensive of all the inflatable dinosaur costumes (at the time of this writing), and having two legs in the back means you have to stand up all night.

Apatosaurus: This one is probably better for trick-or-treating outside because it's tall! If you're at a party with a low ceiling, you might break the lights as you walk around.

Velociraptor. Our second choice for adults because it's iconic, easily recognizable, and reasonably priced.

Can you take an inflatable dinosaur costume on a plane?

Providing you have the foresight to take the batteries out as planes are not overly keen on having batteries in check in luggage! and if you take it as carry on no one is going to thank you if it inflates, there should be no problem with taking an inflatable dinosaur costume on a plane.

However, wearing one might be a little different. although we can no find specific guidance on inflatable costumes it is likely going to be considered a safety hazard as it will impede your movement in case of emergency.

However, as highlighted here some airlines do allow other costumes on planes. Just make sure you still look like you for the Id checks of course and if you are unsure we strongly suggest you check with your airline to find out their rules.
